Lloyd Milton Abbott, age 85, passed away at his daughter’s home in Riverton, on Friday, May 19, 2018. He was born October 6, 1932 in Duchesne, Utah to John Edward and Sylvia Jones Abbott. He was married to Charlene Paxman on April 29, 1961 in Washington. They divorced in 1988.
He graduated from Duchesne High School and he spent time at both BYU and Utah State University before he was drafted into the Army. He served during the Korean War, stationed in Korea and Hong Kong, until he was honorably discharged in January 1961. After the war he worked as a truck driver for several companies including American Oil, Consolidated Freightways and Petrolane. The most important thing in his life was staying close to family. He was very hard worker and had a knack for conversation with friends and strangers. He was a good man and cared for many.
He is survived by three children: Andrea Carroll (Doug), Diana Brantley (Steve), Jeffrey (Julie) Abbott; two brothers: Jay (Helen) Abbott, Terry (Julie) Abbott; and 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister: Elva (Gail) VanTassell and brothers: Arnold (Bobbie) Abbott, Ward (Fern) Abbott, and Norman (Mona Dee/Carrie) Abbott.
A viewing will be held at the Bountiful 45th Ward chapel at 115 E. Wicker Lane (2000 S.) in Bountiful, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 25. Graveside services and interment will be at noon at the Bountiful City Cemetery at 2224 S. 200 West, Bountiful.
