70th: Toone

Marjean and Jury Toone celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary at a party with family and friends. The couple met after Jury was discharged from the Army after World War II. He was watching the Bountiful 4th of July Parade where Marjean was the beauty queen riding on the Lakewoods Furnishings float. He met her at the parade’s termination and took her to Lagoon where they danced the rest of the night. They still love to dance every chance they get.

They were married Sept. 20, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple and then honeymooned in Denver, CO. The couple has four children. Jury was a landscape architect and the owner of Redwood Nursery. Marjean always worked beside him at the store.

They have served as temple workers in the Salt Lake, Bountiful and Nauvoo Temples for more than 31 years. Together they served three missions  for the LDS Church; the first in 1990 to the Philippines Bacolod Mission; second, as directors of the Sesquicentennial Wagon Train in 1997 and third, in 2002 were called to open and serve in the Nauvoo Temple.
