UPDATE: Four officers injured in Kaysville incident

KAYSVILLE—In what appears to be a suicide attempt, a man doused himself with gas and lit himself on fire at the Top Stop/Chevron gas station at 200 North 300 West this afternoon, according to Kaysville Police Chief Sol Oberg.

“Officers tried to secure him and the building in an effort to keep everyone safe and four of them received a variety of different levels of burns,” he said.

Four officers were checked out for their injuries and two were taken to the burn unit at the University of Utah, Oberg said. “One of the officers will probably be there for a while.”

The man, whose name has not been released is in critical condition, he said. “There will be an investigation as to what happened and why.”
