BOUNTIFUL—A new eatery is coming to town. Culver’s restaurant, known for butter burgers, cheese curds and their famous custard, is opening their 10th store in Utah at 620 N. 500 West where J & L nursery once sat.
“This has been a big, fun project,” said owner/operator Matt Young. “It’s very family oriented with a focus on community. That’s what attracted me to Culver’s. Our motto is: ‘Every guest that chooses Culver’s leaves happy.’”
Culver’s was founded in Wisconsin and has about 680 stores. “We’re trying to bring it to Utah,” said Young. “Everything we sell is sourced in the U.S.”
Custard is one of their main things, he said. “We make it fresh all day every day. We do vanilla and chocolate but we also have a flavor of the day and several different types of toppings. It’s really fun because every time customers come in they can get something different and unique.”
Everything they cook is fresh, hot and made to order. “Customers can get it exactly the way they want it,” Young said. “We’re famous for our hospitality. We don’t yell out a number or a name. We give full table service and deliver it to you with a smile. Our staff goes above and beyond to help guests.”
The new facility has plenty of parking and outdoor seating on the patio with music playing to create a great atmosphere, he said. “You may have to wait a little longer but it’s all fresh. We plan to hire 80 to 90 employees so that we have a lot of people to take care of everybody that comes in.”
In addition to running the restaurant, Young teaches a business/marketing class to students in DECA at Woods Cross High School. “It allows kids to get real life marketing experience and learn about being their own boss.”
As part of the experience, the club is taking over half time at the Woods Cross/Viewmont football game Friday, Oct. 5 where fans can win a variety of prizes.
“The kids have gone out and done a lot,” said Young. “Chandler Harrison, Quinn Capellucci, Roman Sanone and Logan Simmons have made posters, fliers and helped get 200 T-shirts to throw into the stands. As people come into the stadium they can sign up for a raffle for a chance at kicking a field goal. If they make it Harrison Mitsubishi is giving away a new car.”
Culver’s will host a grand opening Oct. 22 starting at 8:30 a.m. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the community,” said Young. “We’ve been working on this project for quite a while and everyone has been great to work with.”
