One suspect dead, another on the run after failed pawn shop robbery
Bountiful police are still searching for one suspect after an armed robbery attempt at Bountiful Pawn and Sales Friday morning. One suspect is dead, but the other remains at large as of 12:15 p.m. after two men entered the store shortly after it opened. An altercation ensued between one of the suspects and a store employee, and that suspect was shot and killed by the employee, according to Bountiful police Lt. Dave Edwards.
“We received a 911 call about 10:10 of an attempted robbery and shots fired at the pawn shot,” he said. “One suspect was shot and the other escaped on foot. He was wearing a blue face mask, gray hoodie and jeans. We’re asking the public for any help or information they can provide so we can apprehend the suspect.” He said anyone with information is asked to call the Bountiful PD at 801-298-6000.
Officers cleared several businesses surrounding the pawn shop, and the Costco store across 500 West was on lockdown for about an hour. Edwards said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen running south down 500 West. Edwards provided the media with a photo of the second suspect, as shown here.
