To honor Hill Air Force Base military personnel, veterans and their families, the Northern Wasatch Association of Realtors (NWAOR) and Layton City will sponsor the “Sounds of Freedom” Appreciation Day on June 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Layton Commons Park. The highlights of the event, beginning at noon, include a flag ceremony, the singing of the national anthem, a 1,000-foot level fly over by F-16s, and speeches by high-ranking officers, local and state government officials. Festivities also feature a car show hosted by J.C. Hackett, musical entertainment, a drawing for an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, and booths with demonstrations, games, food and drinks. The event is free to the public with donations being accepted at the park by NWAOR in support of the local military housing assistance fund. All proceeds, including booth fees and donations, will be given to the fund. “This will be a wonderful opportunity for all of us to gather and show our support and appreciation for our military and their families, who make daily sacrifices for our well-being and freedom,” said Mike Ostermiller, CEO of NWAOR. “We see them in our communities and hear their ‘sounds of freedom’ as they fly above our homes every day. We invite all military, their families and area citizens to join with us during this event as we express our gratitude.” The event is also supported and sponsored by AIRFORCE.com and Rock-n-Roll Radio Car Show & Cruise Nights.
