NORTH SALT LAKE — Each year, Davis County performers look forward to the LDS Church’s “Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection.” This year, auditions for cast members for the 2012 production will be held at the Bountiful Regional Center, 835 N. 400 East, in North Salt Lake on Friday, Aug. 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Auditions for lead and ensemble roles are available by appointment, by calling 801-240-2551. Walk-ins are also welcome. Auditions will also be held in the Brigham Young University’s Richards Building on Aug. 29 and 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Aug. 31 from 6 to 10 p.m. Callbacks will be held Sept. 4 through 8, and rehearsals will begin on Sept. 15. The production will run from Nov. 16 through Dec. 29. Participants need not be professional actors, but should have a desire to share a witness of Jesus Christ, according to a press release. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ages 8 and older may audition. The more than 100 speaking and singing parts are recast every year, bringing new participants to the production. Those interested in a specific role should bring a resume and 16 bars of a song that will demonstrate their vocal range and ability. Those interested in an ensemble role should prepare to sing a hymn or Primary song as an individual or a family. “Savior of the World,” is a two-hour musical production that will be performed in the Conference Center Theater. It is based on events surrounding the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The North Salt Lake production was first performed in 2000 for the inauguration of the theater.
