Colleen Jenkins Sessions, of Bountiful, born Feb. 3, 1933, in Springville, to Leona Beckstead Jenkins Muhlestein and Howard Jenkins, wife of Theral W. Sessions, passed away Nov. 17, 2012 in Long Beach, Calif. where she lived with her son. Survived by son, William Russell Sessions, and sister, Cathy Muhlestein Warriner.
A graduate of BYU, Westminster, and Saint Marks as an RN in 1956. she was involved in student activities and government. She worked at David O McKay where she organized the Candy Strippers and Pink Ladies and Primary Children’s Hospitals and an administrator to several hospitals and medical facilities. She served on the Board of Trustees for The Bountiful Davis Arts Center, Work Activities Center SLC for handicapped adults and the Bountiful Centennial Committee. She was involved with the Festival of Trees, Handcart Days and Bountiful Christmas parades, Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce and the Book Flood Fighters that was dedicated to her. She has been honored with KSL the Everyday People Award, Kiwanis Club, in 1984 the Utah Total Citizen of the Year Award, Eunice Kennedy Shriver and the Utah Special Olympics as well the International Special Olympics for giving an opportunity to handicapped individuals for a better life and for countless hours of service that also included the Utah Figure Skating Club, U.S. Figure Skating and figure skating in general. In failing health she started her own business called Sessions Settlement designing award winning decorative bird house and thousands of her hand made knitted hats, donated to many hospitals and organizations worldwide. She is an incredible lady and mother, who’s kindness and love will survive time.
