James Russell Parker, beloved husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. Russell was born December 15, 1920 to Timothy James Parker and Florence Vance Parker in Eureka. After meeting his sweetheart Russell married Zetha Amelia Burningham on May 24, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.They were married for 64 years. He served in the Army as a medic in World War II. He showed his love of country by flying the flag every day. He was a longtime scouter and was awarded the Silver Beaver.
Russell always had a garden that he shared with family and friends. He loved fishing and was especially talented wood cutting. He was the best neighbor, taking care of any of their needs. He was always ready to serve. Russ loved each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much and they returned that love. He always supported them in all of their activities. Russ had a great love for Country Western music and loved to pop popcorn and settle in with a good John Wayne movie. Russell had quite the collection of cowboy boots and hats.
Russell was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving as a teacher, high priest, and temple worker.
He is survived by his wife Zetha Parker; children Kathy (Gene) Birkes, Vicki (Kevin) Kranendonk and Timothy (Karen) Parker; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and sister, LaVonne Tomlin. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marie Adair.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1 p.m., at the West Bountiful 5th Ward, 840 N. 800 West, West Bountiful, Utah, where friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
