1948-2012

Robert Bruce Barlow was born Nov. 2, 1948 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Newell Hjorth Barlow and Ruby Alice Parkin Barlow. He passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City, Utah, July 27, 2012.

In his youth Robert was well liked and exceptionally smart. He wrestled and played football for Bountiful High School, loved fishing, hiking and beekeeping. He continually spoke of the summer he spent in Hawaii with his good friends. While in Hawaii he was a surveyor which was his occupation for many years.

When Robert was eight-years-old he received a serious head injury from a 50-foot fall while on a family fishing trip in the Uintas which led to complications in his adult life. The majority of his life was spent in hospitals and care facilities. Despite his physical troubles, he was known to be kind and polite to his caregivers.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul. He is survived by five brothers, Lynn, Sandy; Roger, Bountiful; Brian, Woods Cross; Merlin, Bountiful; Philip, Holladay; and one sister, Linda Diane Farley, Pocatello, Idaho.

A casual graveside service will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 West, July 31, 2012 at 11 a.m.

Thanks to Connie Payne and all of Robert’s caregivers throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Utah Brain Injury Assoc.
