BOUNTIFUL – Downtown Bountiful has another shopping option, and it’s about the newest of arrivals and the loved ones who care most about them.
Over the Moon, 112 S. Main, opened in mid-October, and is a boutique that’s all about babies.
Tami England owns and manages the store. It’s next door to Touche, which she also owns.
John Hepworth, whose Security Investment built the retail/apartment spaces housing England’s stores, asked if she would consider opening what is now Over the Moon.
“I didn’t want another project. My first reaction was,, ‘No Way,’” England said of her initial reaction to the request.
“But then I thought, ‘Why not?’” and that led to what she admits has been a fast and heavy learning curve.
“In June, I sent my son on a mission to Spain and I boarded a plane for California.”
The new store builds on Touche’s strong relationship with Vera Bradley products, she said. “They make a great baby bag. They felt it was a great market, so why not expand?”
In many cases, items sold at Over the Moon are unique, not available elsewhere. Or, even if they’re made by a manufacturer that sells to mainstream retailers, the quality is more boutique, better, than may be available otherwise, she said.
England used the example of swaddling blankets, or swaddles, which are popular right now, saying the Aden & Anais brand available at her store is of boutique quality, made especially for her type of store.
“It’s a grandma store. It’s the perfect store if you want to give a gift for a new baby,” England added.
The store is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call 801-299-5100.
