BOUNTIFUL — Children from south-end Davis County schools competed in classroom and school-wide spelling bees and the winners of those competitions advanced to the south-end county semifinals, held Feb. 19 at Bountiful High School. The 14 winners, grades two through six, will advance to the finals along with winners of the Feb. 7 north-end competition which was held at Layton High School. The finals, which will include seventh and eighth graders, will be March 21. Visit davisclipper.com/spellingbee for more information and a new study guide for the final competition. The top three winners of the spelling bee will receive scholarships for college ranging from $1,000 and $3,000.
