KAYSVILLE - The dedication of the Sept. 11 Memorial is planned for Wednesday at the Utah Botanical Center, 920 S. 50 West in Kaysville.

The program will start at 6:30 a.m. with a motorcyclepatriot guard that will ride from Kaysville Junior High and continue to the botanical center.

The patriot guard will be followed by a Kaysville fire engine and a flag ceremony performed by the Farmington American Legion Post 27.  A Davis High School trumpeter will perform “To the Colors,” and the Davis High School band will play the Star Spangled Banner at the end of the ceremony.

Speakers will include Lt. Gov. Greg Bell, U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop and Major Gen. Brian Tarbet.

Sculptor artist Angela Johnson will be introduced as well as Darrell Schmidt of the Sandy Fire Department, who served as sculptor model.

Various songs will be performed. In addition, veterans will participate from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, First Gulf War and current active members of the Armed Forces.

Lt. Col. Jay Hess, Ret.,  recipient of two Purple Hearts, will be among those participating. Special guests include members of the Mary Alice Wahlstrom family, Carolyn Beug family and Brady Howell’s widow, Liz Howell, who will unveil a plaque dedicated to the three Utah 9/11 victims.

Students of Syracuse Elementary School in 2003 who helped donate 44,097 pennies are also invited to attend.
