LAYTON — The Layton Fire Department is hosting its annual Kendall O. Bryant Fire Prevention Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the main Layton City Fire Station, #51, 530 N. 2200 West, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Activities will include free rides on one of the department’s fire engines. Canned food items brought to the event will go to support the Family Connection Center’s Food Pantry in Layton, according to a press release from the department.

The open house is named for firefighter Kendall O. Bryant, who died in the line of duty while searching for victims in a house fire on March 31, 2000. Bryant dedicated much of his time as a firefighter to educating children about fire safety.
