WOODS CROSS — The Utah High School Activities Association released a list of Academic All-State players for eight spring sports played this season.

The most populated list this season was baseball, which listed six total south Davis County baseball players.

Among the players listed are Davis’ Tyler Hall, Jackson Peacock and Zach Fuller on the 5A team, and Woods Cross’ Brady Cowley, Zach Ellsworth and Kyle Peay on the 4A team.

The 5A team also had Layton High School’s Braxton Barnes and Syracuse High School’s Jayden Bearnson.

The 5A team combined for a grade point average of 3.98, and the 4A team combined for a 3.99.

Boys’ Track and Field yielded the second highest number of athletes to make the list as five local athletes made the 4A and 5A list.

In 5A, Alex Hedquist, Seth Thompson and Jackson Sagers of Davis, and Jordan Buchanan of Viewmont, were among the 14 students selected. They combined for a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The 4A team only had Woods Cross’ Dexter Murray among the list of 11 members. They also combined for a perfect GPA.

Girls’ Track and Field and Boys’ Tennis each listed three locals to the list.

For Girls’ Track, Elizabeth Fowler of Davis was the lone representative from the area, and Bountiful’s Elise Maddox and Woods Cross’ Jill Richardson were named to the 4A team.

Both the 5A and 4A teams had perfect GPA’s.

The boys’ tennis team had Viewmont’s Isaac Ford and Woods Cross’ Josh Blotter and Tanner Park make the list. Both the 5A and 4A teams had 3.99 GPA’s.

Softball and girls’ golf had the lowest representation of south Davis County players. Only Davis’ Payton Yerke made the list for the 5A softball team, but joined Northridge’s Mitchal Price and McKenzie Bybee, and Syracuse’s McCall Padelsky in the 5A team.

The 5A squad had a 3.97 GPA.

Bountiful’s Sydnie Franksen made the 4A list in girls’ golf, and was part of a list that finished with a 3.99 GPA.

Boys’ soccer was the only sport that didn’t have a single south Davis County player on the list; however, Northridge’s Landon Farnsworth and Layton’s Clint Richins and Tracen Page made the 5A team.
