BOUNTIFUL —  As many as 18 local girls’ soccer players have been chosen by the coaches of 4A and 5A high schools for the All-State list, including nine local players each in 5A and 4A.

The first team members in 5A include Viewmont’s Heidi Lorscheider, Abbie Flandro, Ella Johnson and Ashley Earnshaw, and Davis’ Melanie Ostler. In 4A the list was a little shorter, and included Woods Cross’ Kyra Fawcett and Hannah Petersen and Bountiful’s Elena Medeiros and Jenny Skedros all earned first team honors.

The 5A champion Viewmont Vikings boasted four members for the first team, one on each level of the lineup. As a forward, Lorscheider led the team with 18 goals and had 15 assists for the Vikings. At Midfield, Flandro was a balance scorer and defender for Viewmont, knocking in 12 goals.

On defense, Ella Johnson proved to be one of the best at keeping the ball away from the net. Ashley Earnshaw, also named to the first team, recorded eight shutouts on the season for the Vikings.

Johnson didn’t score much, but had the game-winning goal in the 5A championship game against Alta.

Earnshaw’s eight shutouts came included six during region play and another in the championship victory over the Hawks.

Davis’ Ostler was the only member of the Darts squad to make first-team honors. Her great defense and nine scored goals on the season helped her make the list in her final year as a Darts’ girls’ soccer player.

In the 4A class, two players each from Woods Cross and Bountiful made the first-team list. For the Wildcats, Fawcett led the team in scoring as a Forward, knocking in 16 goals in 18 games. The sophomore already has 26 goals in two seasons with the Wildcats, and has made the All-State list for the first time.

Bountiful’s Medeiros and Skedros both made the list as midfielders this season. Medeiros, a senior, scored eight goals this season to help the Braves reach the 4A girls’ soccer finals. Skedros, also a senior, scored 15 goals for the Braves during the season, a new team high.

Sarah Beecher of Davis was the only member of the Second Team for 5A. She recorded seven shutouts for the Darts during the season, helping the team win the Region 1 crown.

Honorable mentions for 5A include Davis’ Chelsey Dunn (midfielder), and Viewmont’s Abbey Rasmussen (defender) and Montana Tanner (defender).

Woods Cross’ Aliyah Miller and Bountiful’s Kennedy Merrick were listed as Second Team All-State members in 4A. Miller was third on the team in scoring with 10 goals, and Merrick finished the season with 13 goals for the Braves.

Eden Jacobsen of Woods Cross and Ally Clay of Bountiful made the list as honorable mentions in the 4A class. As a sophomore, Jacobsen scored five goals for the Wildcats during season, and Clay scored five goals as a senior defender for the Braves.
