FARMINGTON -- The American Legion Farmington Post 27 will be educating the public in proper display and retirement of the American Flag at the Legion's regular meeting June 14.

Because June 14 is Flag Day, the meeting will be devoted to the Flag of the United States of America and what it stands for as a symbol of freedom and justice. This meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the office of Former Congressman Jim Hansen, located at 60 S. 200 West in Farmington. Congressman Hansen is a member of the Legion's Farmington Post 27.

All members of the American Legion, their spouses, as well as former members of the military and their spouses are invited to attend. Hansen will share with those attending some thoughts on his experience in Washington, D.C., and lead a tour of his former campaign headquarters.

The group will then move outside of the cabin for a "Flag Retirement Ceremony." The flag that flew at the Farmington Cemetery, and possibly a couple of others, will be retired.
