Billions of federal dollars are lost annually due to health care fraud, error and abuse. Davis County Senior Services is looking for volunteers to promote awareness and educate Medicare and Medicaid recipients how to protect against, detect, and report fraud by serving in the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP).
SMP volunteers empower seniors through increased awareness and understanding of healthcare programs. This knowledge helps them to protect themselves from the economic and health-related consequences of Medicare and Medicaid fraud, error and abuse.
The activities of the SMP program also serve to enhance the financial, emotional, physical and mental well-being of older adults. This increases their capacity to maintain security and independence in retirement, and to make better financial and healthcare choices.
If you’re interested in volunteering for SMP, please contact Davis County Senior Services volunteer coordinator, Jessica Hardcastle, at 801-525-5087. Certain requirements pertain to volunteering with Davis County, such as completing a volunteer application packet which includes a drug screening and background check.
