ANTELOPE ISLAND – Hikers and bird enthusiasts will enjoy what Antelope Island has in store this weekend.
Starting Saturday, July 20, the Island is hosting a pair of events: a guided hike and a hummingbird-watching event.
The latter is happening on Sunday, July 21.
Saturday’s Guided Sunset Hike will have hikers gather together at 7:30 p.m. for a two-mile one-way hike along the Shoreline Trail. They will learn about the past of the Great Salt Lake.
The trail starts near campsite No. 8 in Bridger Bay Campground and the event is free, although park entry fees will apply.
On Sunday, the Island will host a Rockin’ Hummingbirds event starting at 10 a.m. at the Fielding Garr Ranch.
Participants will get to watch hummingbirds as the birds forage for nectar in close quarters.
Those interested should bring a sack lunch and drinks, but the Island will provide dessert.
Space is limited and registration for the event is required. Park entrance fees will apply.
