WOODS CROSS – Applications for this fall’s sage grouse, sharp-tailed grouse and sandhill crane hunts are being accepted today, June 20, by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

The trio of hunts will begin in the fall.

To be included in the draw for permits, applications must be received through the division’s website, wildlife.utah.gov, no later than 11 p.m. on July 3.

Applications will also be accepted over the phone by calling a division office no later than 3 p.m. on July 3.

Those not interested in the trio of hunts can still apply for a preference point.

Hunters with preference points have the best chance of getting a permit for the 2014 season.

Those who apply will know whether they drew a permit on Friday, July 19.

For more information, call the Salt Lake City division office at 801-538-4700.
