CENTERVILLE — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection is opening its annual Blessing of the Beasts to the community on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. All are welcome to bring their furry or feathered friends to be blessed as church members commemorate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, known to have loved all of God's creatures. Any animal is welcome, according to the Rev. Lyn Briggs. “The more exotic the better.” She asked that those attending make sure their pets are leashed or otherwise contained. She also suggested that those who have pets who have died bring photos of them. The church will collect pet food for the Bountiful Food Pantry to offer to their clients’ pets. The service of blessing takes about 20 minutes. For more information, contact
