BRIGHAM CITY — Several Bountiful residents who toured the Brigham City LDS Temple during the open house period are in awe of the beauty and craftsmanship of the newest temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “I was so impressed. I had the feeling while walking down the hallways that it’s simple, but beautiful,” said Bountiful resident Jeri Jordan. It’s a sentiment echoed by Andrea Farr, also a Bountiful resident, who was particularly impressed by the craftsmanship of the woodwork. “It’s so detailed-oriented,” Farr said. Jordan spoke of how elegant the temple is. “When we entered the celestial room, I explained to my grandkids that this is the way heaven’s going to be.” The upcoming dedication of the 139th LDS Temple seems to be all the buzz among many Utah Mormons, and tickets for the open house a hot commodity. The open house is underway through Sept. 15. Tickets are required, but several people told the Clipper, that the only tickets available seemed to be for early morning tours. However, most eyes are already on the Sept. 23 dedication. President Boyd K. Packer, president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, will dedicate the temple in three sessions at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. LDS worship services have been canceled that day, but members are encouraged to view one of the sessions at their local stake center. LDS Church spokesman Scott Trotter said those attending the dedication must have a temple church recommend or a regular temple recommend. Those attending must be at least 8 years of age and be baptized to receive a temple recommend, he said.
