LAYTON – Beehive Broadband is the latest service provider to join hands with UTOPIA, the fiber-optic broadband network owned by a coalition of cities, including Centerville and Layton.

Beehive Broadband is an affiliate of the 50-year-old Beehive Telephone company.

“We are pleased to welcome Beehive as the newest service provider on the UTOPIA network,” said Gary Jones, vice president of sales and marketing for UTOPIA, in a press release.  “With this partnership we combine UTOPIA’s state of the art network with Beehive’s long history of providing quality telecommunication services to the consumers of Utah.”

Beehive is the only service provider with UTOPIA that is “totally vertically integrated on all products,” according to a statement from Beehive Broadband CEO Chuck McCown.

Offerings include digital voice telephone service, Captivision HDTV high-definition television service and Internet.

“That means we do not simply resell services like a TV feed that is imported from out of state,” McCown said. “We have built, we own and we control 100 percent of our network operations center and television master control head end.”
