BOUNTIFUL - Utah Representative Rob Bishop took his efforts to keep Hill AFB alive straight to military leadership this month.

Five U.S. congressmen, including Bishop, met with the Air Force Materiel Commander Gen. Janet C. Wolfenbarger on Oct. 18 at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio.

“She knows that none of us were happy with the change to a new sustainment center, but she was charged with putting it together,” Bishop said.

That has already meant reductions at Hill from a three-star to one-star general status as well as a cut in nearly 200 jobs.

“It was very clear in talking to her and those at the three-star sustainment center that their goal is to grow the work product and workforce, as well,” he said.

Potential new funding cuts under a second Obama administration worry Bishop.
