The mayor and council have ignored overwhelming opposition to the new city hall. Could some possibly have conflicts of interest or are they just arrogant?
As expressed in the last hearing, the council believes that because they are elected they can do whatever they want. They don’t need to do what Bountiful citizens want.
Yesterday I went to the city planner's office and asked if they had done a survey to determine resident's opinions. First, they politely responded “yes.” When I asked to see the survey they said, “Well actually, we just asked people what activities they would like to do in the new plaza. We didn’t ask if they thought we should build a new city hall.”
It is unreasonable and arrogant that the mayor and council should require a petition to put approval of the city hall on the November ballot. They already know how we feel.
