FARMINGTON — A 54-year-old Kaysville man remains in the Davis County Jail after he allegedly held his girlfriend against her will at their home on Sunday.

Vernon Officer was arrested Sunday on counts of aggravated kidnapping, assault, interfering with a police officer, damaging a communications device and disorderly conduct. He is being held on $200,000 bond.

Police received a call from a woman at a church parking lot on Sunday, according to Kaysville Police Capt. Brent Ward.

The woman alleged Officer attacked her, threw her to the ground and broke her cell phone so she couldn’t call police.

She managed to escape and ran to a nearby church parking lot, where she asked someone to call police.

Police reported they had to use pepper spray on Officer, but still had to physically restrain him.
