Braves, Vikings advance, Woods Cross falls to one-loss bracket

WOODS CROSS – The Bountiful Braves and Viewmont Vikings softball teams advanced through the one-loss bracket after beating Roy and Granger, respectively.

Woods Cross fell to the loser’s bracket after dropping to Salem Hills 4-0 the same day.

Bountiful beats Roy 14-8 to advance through one-loss bracket

Bountiful scored six runs in the first inning of last Thursday’s one-loss playoff game against Roy.

The Braves scored five more in the fifth inning to re-take the lead, eventually winning the game 14-8.

Bountiful had 17 hits as a team. Sydney Austin hit a triple and three others hit doubles for Bountiful in the win.

McKenna Alley got the win inside the circle for Bountiful.

Viewmont clobbers Granger 16-0 to advance

The Lady Vikings scored 10 runs in the first two innings and beat the Granger Lancers 16-0 last week to advance through the one-loss bracket.

Amanda Varley and Caitlyn Larsen hit two home runs each, and Eliza Thornley picked up the mercy-rule win inside the circle.

Woods Cross falls to Salem Hills, 4-0

The Lady Wildcats fell to the one-loss bracket after dropping a 4-0 game to Salem Hills last Thursday.

Woods Cross was held to three hits and committed four errors on the field. Hanalee Robinson took the loss for Woods Cross.

Games this week

The 4A and 5A softball finals will be played Thursday at the Valley Softball Complex.

Both games will be played at 5 p.m. in Field 4 (4A) and Field 1 (5A).
