KAYSVILLE — A southbound FrontRunner locomotive broke down early Tuesday morning, causing "fairly significant delays for passengers north of Layton," but the commuter train's schedule was back to normal by 8:30 a.m.
The breakdown occurred near Kaysville about 6:30 a.m., said Utah Transit Authority Spokesman Gerry Carpenter. The train was pulled into the Layton station, and passengers from that train waited for another train to continue their journey.
Carpenter said UTA had called for a bus to carry those passengers into Salt Lake, but decided by time a bus could be dispatched, another train would be on its way.
"Passengers on that train were delayed a lot," Carpenter said, and other trains "significantly delayed" as a result.
