NORTH SALT LAKE — Construction crews working on 400 West accidentally broke through a gas line at about 400 North on Tuesday afternoon, stalling traffic and causing two nearby businesses to be evacuated.

The incident, which started about 4 p.m., was cleaned up within 30 to 40 minutes, said South Davis Metro Fire Battalion Chief Matt Shupe.

The crews hit a 4-inch gas line, but Questar was quick to respond and turn off the gas flow, and no one was hurt or sickened in the incident, Shupe said.

Traffic was slowed in the area, but not for long.

“There was very minimal impact,” Shupe said.
