CLEARFIELD — A 13-year-old girl was in satisfactory condition a day after police say her brother accidently shot her.
The shooting took place at the family home in the 200 North block of 360 West in Clearfield, according to a Clearfield Police press release.
When officers arrived, they found the 13-year-old victim with a wound in the back of her shoulder. The bullet exited the front arm. Police say the girl was conscious and breathing and was able to communicate with the officers.
It appears the victim’s 15-year-old brother had a .22-caliber handgun that he inadvertently shot his sister with. The children immediately notified the parents, who were home at the time.
The girl was flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children’s Medical Center., where she remained on Friday.
The accident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
