A man was seen getting into vehicles parked at a ward house of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1954 N. 2000 East on Sunday about 10 a.m., Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen said.
The man made entry into a couple of the vehicles before being confronted by church-goers. The man then ran off. He didn’t get anything of value.
Poulsen believe the man may live nearby because he was wearing a blue shirt at the time of the break-ins, but later returned wearing a white shirt. After that, he got into a black BMW and drove away.
Poulsen said law enforcement frequently take vehicle burglary calls because people fail to lock their car doors and leave valuables in plain sight.
She said people sometimes people trust fellow church members and falsely believe their car won’t be broken into while parked at a church. She cautioned everyone to not leave valuables in cars, even if they are attending church, and to lock their car doors.
