LAYTON — Two men were arrested early Sunday morning on burglary and theft charges after a Layton officer found them with items from a vehicle burglary.

Christopher Reynolds, 29, was booked into the Davis County Jail for vehicle burglary, felony theft, felony possession of stolen property and criminal trespass.  Christopher Wright, 27, was booked on several felony burglary and theft charges, failure to register as a sex offender and several counts of criminal trespass, according to a Layton Police press release.

In that release, Layton Police Lt. Shawn Horton said that at about 4 a.m. on Sunday, a Layton patrol officer saw the two men walking in the area of Main Street and Hillfield Road. He contacted them and they allegedly consented to a search of their belongings.

During the search, officers allegedly located items from a vehicle burglary.

While questioning Wright, officers said they learned that the suspect had committed a residential burglary and other business and vehicle burglaries in the Layton area.

Police conducted a follow-up investigation at two Layton residences and allegedly recovered stolen property from many of the burglaries.
