CENTERVILLE — Centerville Police will conduct a Roadside Safety and Sobriety Checkpoint at 800 W. Parrish Lane, beginning on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 27 through the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 28.
The checkpoint is part of the city's effort to improve highway safety, and will be conducted in cooperation with other police agencies, the Utah Highway Patrol and the Utah Safety Office. The city will partner with Top Stop gas station, Wendy's restaurant, In-N-Out Burgers and the Utah Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
"We recognize that with Halloween approaching, that many will be enjoying the season with parties, fun costumes and friends," said Centerville Assistant Police Chief Paul Child. "We encourage people to celebrate wisely and responsibly and to never drive while impaired by alcohol and drugs."
Wendy's restaurant and In-N-Out Burgers have donated meal coupons which officers will give out during the checkpoint to all designated drivers to thank them for helping keep the roads safe, Child said.
The Utah chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will provide food for officers working the checkpoint. Top Stop is allowing officers to use some of its parking lot for the checkpoint.
