FARMINGTON — A Centerville therapist, who pleaded guilty to one count of forcible sex abuse of a teenage girl was sentenced to one to 15 years in the Utah State Prison on Monday.

Scott Andrew Peterson, 36, pleaded guilty to second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse in January.

Peterson was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim and her family.

He was arrested in November after Centerville police were notified by the legal department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The girl had reported the abuse to her bishop.

A probable cause statement said that Peterson, a licensed clinical social worker  engaged in sexual conduct with the then 16-year-old client in March of 2013. It continued until August, when Peterson’s business, Therapy on the Fly closed its doors.

He has remained in the Davis County Jail since his arrest.
