ith wins by all four south Davis County high school soccer teams, the region standings remained mostly intact in Region 1 and Region 2.

Woods Cross’ win over East, however, helped to lift the Wildcats into a first-place tie atop the Region 6 standings with just three games remaining on their schedule.

The Wildcats entered into Friday’s game with the Leopards wanting to avenge their 3-0 shutout loss back on March 29. Trailing 1-0 at the half, Woods Cross battled back to within a 2-2 tie after scoring a pair of goals in the second half to push the game in overtime. It didn’t take long to break the tie in overtime, however, as Leo Calquin scored the golden goal just 37 seconds into the first overtime to take home the Wildcats’ fifth region win. For Calquin, his game-winning goal was his second of the game and eighth of the season. Ethan Cope scored the other goal for the Wildcats in the win.

The Bountiful Braves entered Friday’s game against Cyprus needing a win in order to maintain their two-point deficit behind East and Woods Cross in the standings. With a four-goal second-half and five different players scoring at least one goal, the Braves were able to take down the Pirates 6-1 to pick up their fourth region win. Bountiful’s leading scorer that game was Kaleb Maynard, who scored two goals in the winning effort. Dain Murdock, Garrett Rydalch, Michael McCann and Tristan Booth each scored single goals for the Braves as well.

After suffering their first Region 1 loss and just their second loss of the season, the Davis Darts soccer match against Fremont Thursday turned into a must-win game if they wanted to keep their No. 2 position in the region standings.
