CLEARFIELD — Due to an irrigation malfunction and recent rainfall, a portion of the southeast embankment of the Center Street bridge has sloughed off.

The street/bridge has been closed to prevent further damage. The city is researching the best repair options and will open this portion of Center Street and the overpass as soon as possible.

Vehicle traffic is being detoured to both 300 North and Antelope Drive/1700 South. “We recognize the urgency of this situation,” said Clearfield City Assistant Manager JJ Allen, “especially given the closure of SR-193/1700 South by the Utah Department of Transportation for construction of the highway extension.”

Updates may be found by following the city’s Twitter page at “ClearfieldCity,” searching #centerstreetbridge, or liking the Clearfield City Facebook page at facebook/Clearfield City.com.
