WEST BOUNTIFUL —  After seven years of concerts, the West Bountiful Arts Council has a lot of music to celebrate.

They’re doing just that at a free Founder’s Day concert, set for Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. The event will feature several popular local musicians who have performed as part of the concert series in previous years.

“We have some really good talent that lives in our West Bountiful area,” said organizer Colleen Maloy. “This gives them a chance to shine.”

Mike Murphy, who performed at the series’ first concert, will return to the stage for the Sept. 13 event. Other performers include accordianist Wayne Eckman, the Silver Winds Flute Ensemble, and singer Alan Marsden.

“We’ve had Alan back several times,” said Maloy. “He always packs in a big crowd.”

Filling out the lineup is Echoes of the Heart, The Child family violin trio, Susie Carter, Kim McKean, Sherrie Hutchings and the Maloy family singers. Pianist Rebekah Hogan will represent the Young Artists concerts the city holds annually.

“It’s been really fun to see these kids develop,” said Maloy.

The concert series is one of the arts council’s most popular events.

“We’ve been really successful,” said Maloy, “but I hope we can do even more.”

One of the goals concert organizers have for next year is to gather together a community band for a performance.

“We did it a couple of years ago,” said Maloy. “It gives people a chance to pull their instruments out, dust the cobwebs out of their brains, and have fun.”
