BOUNTIFUL — The new Corner Bakery and Cafe plans to open its doors July 21, just days before Bountiful’s annual Handcart Days celebration.
“Construction is moving along,” said Ron Bagley, operating partner with Cornerstone Foods.
The business is under construction on 200 West 500 South, right in front of the new Savers (opening soon) and Planet Fitness.
It’s anticipated 40 employees will work at the eatery, which will be the fourth in Utah. There are three in Salt Lake County and one under construction in the Ogden area.
“In the restaurant industry you all this fast casual service,” Bagley said. Customers will place their orders at the counter and it will be delivered to their table.
“It’s really more a restaurant than a bakery,” he said. There are some bakery items, such as brownies and cakes and various types of sweet bars, but breakfast, lunch, inner and some catering will be available.
Soups, salads, sandwiches are mainstays, along with a couple of pasta entrees.
“We try to be a part of the community,” and that includes already working with South Davis Community Hospital, Bagley said. “Every cafe has a different neighborhood mural,” and that will include a distinct mural depicting Bountiful landmarks and sites.
The exterior of the 3,850 square-foot building will be a combination of brick and stucco with the distinctive black and white awnings.
Wasatch Regional Builders, all part of the Logan-based group of companies, is the general contractor.
Wasatch Guarantee Capital is also involved as a partner while Wasatch Property Management owns the property.
