SALT LAKE CITY — The inaugural Utah High School Cycling League season finished with rousing success.

To kick off its second season, the cycling league will hold a Leader’s Summit on Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17, at the Chase Peterson Heritage Center on the University of Utah Campus.

The camp, which will provide training for would-be coaches, current coaches and volunteers, will feature classes from nutrition to Mountain Biking 101.

“One of the great things about this organization is that anyone can get involved in coaching and mentoring these kids, whether they’re avid mountain bikers themselves or haven’t been on a bike since they were kids,” said Utah League Director Lori Harward in a press release. “Our summit is a great refresher for returning coaches and volunteers and gives first-timers the tools they need to start or get involved with a successful team.”

General classroom seminars will be held through the weekend, covering the basics of working with high school cycling students.

Other seminars will include how-to’s on starting a team, coaching and recruiting girls’ to participate, and training and managing riders before, during and after the season.

Art Eggerton, a nutritionist based in Park City, will teach a nutrition seminar as well.
