KAYSVILLE – After losing the first game of the series to Northridge, the Davis Darts baseball team took the next two games and the series from the Knights by claiming back-to-back wins.
Viewmont picked up its first win of the season over Fremont, but lost the next two games.
In Region 6, Woods Cross lost a close game to Kearns 4-2 and Bountiful beat Clearfield and Cyprus for their third straight region win.
Davis takes series from Northridge
The Darts lost the first game of the series against Northridge earlier in the week, but rebounded to beat the Knights on Wednesday and Friday last week to take the series.
The pair of wins also ended a five game losing skid for the Darts.
In Wednesday’s game, Ben Rigby picked up the win on the mound and hit a double at the plate. Cody Argyle and Jake Adams also hit a double each, and the Darts as a team scored 14 runs on 12 hits.
In Friday’s 8-3 win, Adams blasted a home run and Dom Fuller got three hits at the plate, including a double.
Connor Blaisdell picked up the win on the mound.
Vikings lose series to Fremont after 8-3, 8-1 losses
The Viewmont Vikings picked up their first win of the season last week after beating Fremont 7-2 in the opening game of the series.
The Vikings lost the next two games, however, to lose the series to the Silver Wolves.
Ethan Richards picked up the Vikings’ first win of the season on the mound.
Wildcats lose to Cougars, 4-2
In a battle for first place in Region 6, the Wildcats dropped a close game to the Cougars last Wednesday, 4-2.
Woods Cross scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead after the top of the fourth inning, but Kearns countered with two runs to re-take the lead.
Kearns scored another run in the fifth to finish the scoring.
Shaden Fisher took the loss on the mound. Caden Brown hit a double for the Wildcats, who scattered nine hits as a team.
Braves beat Clearfield, Cyprus in region play
The Bountiful Braves gained some ground in the Region 6 race last week, picking up wins over Clearfield and Cyprus on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.
In Wednesday’s 7-0 win, Tanner Redding hit a pair of doubles and Takoda Lunt took the win on the mound. Lunt allowed just two hits.
In Friday’s 1-0 win over Cyprus, Parker DePasquale held the Pirates to three hits, earning the victory. The Braves only run came in the second inning.
Games this week
Davis will travel to Weber to face the Warriors in Region 1 action Friday.
The Wildcats will travel to Judge Memorial Thursday in Region 6 action. Bountiful will play Highland on Monday at home.
