Darts, Braves remain unbeaten in region play

KAYSVILLE – The second half of region play started last week, and the Davis Darts and Bountiful Braves are still the frontrunners in their respective regions.

The Darts stayed unbeaten in region play after taking down Fremont 70-56 Friday, and Bountiful nearly doubled Judge Memorial’s score, 70-38.

Viewmont stayed one game back after its 71-56 victory over Northridge, and Woods Cross stayed in the hunt for a playoff spot with a 61-42 win over Clearfield.

Darts still unbeaten in Region 1, down Fremont 70-56

Abel Porter had a career high 34 points and Elijah Kletzli recorded a double-double as the Darts remained undefeated in region play by beating Fremont 70-56 last Friday.

Porter’s previous career high was 28 points, which was done last season. He also pulled down 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

The Darts nearly had a third player finish with a double-double, but Matt Morrell was one rebound shy of doing so. 

Morrell scored 14 points for Davis in the win.

Fremont’s Cameron Chugg scored a team-high 20 points in the loss for the Silver Wolves.

Braves dominate Bulldogs in 70-38 win

The Bountiful boys’ basketball team scored 29 points in the first quarter, and catapulted their way to a 70-38 victory to remain unbeaten in Region 6.

Zac Seljaas finished the game with a double-double, scoring 33 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. He also had six assists.

Sam Merrill also had a solid game, scoring 12 points with seven rebounds and six assists in the win.

Judge scored only five points in the first quarter and six in the fourth. 

Conner Mayer and Tanner Riley each scored eight points in the loss.

Viewmont stays one game back of Davis, beats Northridge 71-56

The Viewmont Vikings won their fifth straight Region 1 game last Friday, beating the Northridge Knights 71-56 in front of their home crowd.

The Viking had a trio of players score in double figures, led by Porter May’s 19 points.

McKay Butler scored 18 points, and McKay Johnson scored 10 points in the win.

Northridge had four players scored 10 points or more. Jrue Perkins led all Knights’ scorers with 12 points.

Wildcats remain in playoff hunt, beat Clearfield 61-42

The Woods Cross boys’ basketball team out scored Clearfield in every quarter of last Friday’s game, leading to a 61-42 victory.

The win kept the Wildcats in the hunt for a playoff spot. They are currently the No. 4 seed in Region 6.

The Wildcats were led by Luke Jowers, who scored 16 points in the win. Xequille Harry scored 11 points and Travis Howey scored 10 points with six rebounds in the win.

Games this week

Viewmont and Davis will square off for the final time during the regular season at Davis High School.

The Braves and Wildcats will also face each other for the second and final time during the regular season at Woods Cross High School.

Both games will tip off at 7 p.m.
