In a rematch of the 5-A football championship, the Colts got a little revenge, defeating the Darts 8-3.
Cottonwood scored six runs in the fourth inning, and that was more than enough as Davis could muster only two hits for the entire game.
In the loser's bracket, Davis played Region 2's Jordan. The Beetdiggers shut down the Darts 6-0, and again, Davis only had two hits for the entire game. Things went a bit differently for the Vikings, who many thought were the best team in 5-A all year long.
The Vikings opened with a 3-2 win over Kearns, then defeated Jordan 11-1. In the quarterfinals, Viewmont had Taylorsville on the ropes before ultimately losing 17-8 in extra innings.
The Vikings led the game going into the seventh inning, but the Warriors scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a one-run lead. Viewmont was able to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, but then gave up nine runs in the top of the eighth and to the loser's bracket they went.
Later that day, Bingham was able to hold Viewmont's offense in check, winning 7-2. Cole Miles hit a homerun for Viewmont, but only had three other hits for the game and committed three errors.
In the end, both teams had very successful seasons, but neither ended the year the way they would have liked.
