KAYSVILLE — Hunter High School is probably liking the fact that there’s a mercy rule in soccer now.

Without it, the Wolverines’ blowout loss to Davis might have been worse. In Tuesday’s opening round of the 5A girls’ soccer playoffs, the Lady Darts scored 12 goals in the first half alone as they cruised past Hunter with a 14-0 win to advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Davis’ 14 goal game was led by five players who scored two goals each including Abbey Mann, Ireland Dunn, Madi Garlock, Melanie Ostler and Sydney Vidal.

Brynnlee Bird, Khloe Tebbs, Kristin Johnson and Regyn Youngberg each added a single goal, and Sarah Beecher picked up her seventh shutout this season.

Davis’ winning streak was extended to six games and the Darts have gone 5-0-1 in that time. Davis will face off against Brighton Thursday afternoon at home.

Game time is 4 p.m.
