In region play, Davis remained undefeated on the season after beating Layton 36-24, and the Vikings were shut out by Fremont in a 21-0 loss.

Bountiful lost to East 49-14 Thursday night in Region 6 action, and Woods Cross improved to 8-1 overall after beating Corner Canyon.

Davis still undefeated, beat Layton 36-24

The Darts defense had a difficult time stopping Layton’s Davis Marriott; however, they were still able to take down the Lancers 36-24 to remain undefeated on the season.

Marriott rushed for 224 yards and scored all three touchdowns for the Lancers, but Colton Chronister countered with four total touchdowns of his own.

Chronister passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more in the win, and threw for 275 yards.

Parker Rose scored the Darts’ other touchdown, a three-yard scamper.

Viewmont drops to Fremont, finish the season winless in region play

The Viewmont Vikings football team finished the regular season with only one win in its return to Region 1.

They also finished winless in Region 1 play after losing 21-0 to the Silver Wolves.

Justin Shaw of Fremont scored all three touchdowns for the Silver Wolves. The win for Fremont was their first of the season.

Wildcats come back to beat Corner Canyon in non-region play

Despite falling behind at halftime, the Woods Cross football team won its eighth game of the season after taking down Corner Canyon 35-17 in non-region play.

Xequille Harry started Woods Cross’ scoring with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and Braxton Gunther scored on an 80-yard touchdown run.

A defensive touchdown by Deion Saumalu and a 44-yard touchdown pass by Clay Kidman to Sean Gallager put the Wildcats up for good.

Gunther rushed for 134 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Bountiful trumped by East, 49-14

The East High School offense was able to run right through the Bountiful defense Thursday night, scoring 35 points in the first half enroute to a 49-14 win.

Bountiful held the Leopards to a single touchdown in the first quarter, but East running back Ula Toluta’u and quarterback Isaac Valles rushed for three more touchdowns in the second quarter, helping the Leopards build a 35-7 lead at the half.

Sam Merrill and Tanner Redding each caught touchdown passes from Trevor Lloyd in the game. The second touchdown pass was Lloyd’s 10th of the season.

Davis will finish its season at home against Weber to wrap up Region 1 play.

In Region 6, both Woods Cross and Bountiful will be at home. They will host Cyprus and Highland, respectively.
