KAYSVILLE—Led by 6’4” senior Emilee Turner, who has committed to play for Seton Hall University next fall, a group of eight seniors on the Davis High volleyball team who hope to improve on a 20-8 record and two losses at the state tournament a year ago.
“We will need to set her every ball,” head coach Lori Salvo said, noting that she will be pulling up younger players to help on the attack and “step it up.”
Middle blocker Emma Cheney, outside hitter/middle blocker/setter Kaila Kaholoaa, setter/right side Lydia Stahle and defensive specialists/liberos Nicole Cleverly, Abby Miller, Brittney Poole and Bonnie Toller are the other seniors who will also be counted on for leadership on and off the court.
Davis faced Bountiful Aug. 22 in its first match of the season and lost 25-9, 25-12, 25-19. The team totaled just 12 kills in the match, led by sophomore Hannah Stahle with five and Kaholaa with four. Turner had four blocks while Poole, Toller and Stahle led with eight digs each defensively.
