Eileen Hess Ostler, wonderful wife, daughter, devoted care giver and friend, quietly slipped through the veil into the arms of her father and mother on May 10, 2012 at her home in Bountiful Utah. In the final hours before her passing she was lovingly attended by her husband Roy and family.
Eileen was born on February 11, 1944 in Boulder, Colorado to Jesse W. and Maurine Smith Hess. Eileen was challenged at birth by a severe cleft pallet which challenged her both physically and emotionally throughout her life, but did not define her. With the love and guidance of her parents, family, teachers and friends she became a very independent and accomplished woman, educator, care giver and wife.
Eileen received her elementary and secondary education in Bountiful, Utah. She received a degree in Secondary Education from Brigham Young University and taught English at Bountiful High School; Eileen could always be depended on to help with graduation activities, participate on the production staff of school musicals as well as other committees. She was always willing to do her part. She retired from teaching after 30 years in 1997.
After retirement she devoted her time and talents to her mother and father, work in her church callings, travel and gardening.
Eileen served faithfully in many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the British Mission June 1966 to December 1967, a service mission with her husband Roy at the Deseret Industries Mfg. Plant June 2008 to November 2010 and Ordnance worker at the Bountiful LDS Temple.
Late in her life Eileen received a totally unexpected surprise, a proposal of marriage from a family friend and former Stake President LeRoy Roth Ostler. Roy and Eileen were married on September 25, 2004 in the Bountiful, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Temple. Their union was divinely created; truly a "match made in heaven". Eileen loved her new family and they in turn loved her. She is survived by her husband, Roy, five married children, 21 grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Val Verda Second Ward building, 3317 So. 800 W., Bountiful. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary 295 No. Main Street and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
