Chris Stewart, of Farmington, won just over the required 60 percent of delegate votes at Saturday’s Utah Republican Convention to avoid a primary.
He was one of 11 Republican candidates for the reconfigured seat, which now stretches from “a few blocks” in Kaysville south into northern parts of Salt Lake City and then leap-frogs around the state, involving 14 counties, including Washington at the far south.
“We feel our nation is at a tipping point,” Stewart said as to why he decided to run.
