FARMINGTON -- The County Clerk's office will likely be busier than usual through March 17, as candidates for various offices file their intentions to run. Filing can take place Monday-Friday until 5 p.m., Friday, March 17. Special requirements are mandated for several of those positions, he explained. For assessor, that person must be a state registered appraiser within 36 months of the Nov. 7 general election; for sheriff, the requirements of the peace officer training and certification act must be met at the time of filing; for attorney, that applicant must be an attorney licensed to practice law in the state and a member of the state bar in good standing; and for surveyor, the person filing must be a registered professional land surveyor in Utah.
Other positions open include all state representatives, which in Davis County includes Districts 11, 13-20, which are two-year positions; three senate seats, Districts 18, 21 and 22.
Also, one State Board of Education seat and four Davis School Board positions, for Districts 3, 5, 6 and 7.
