LAYTON – Business finalists are being announced for the upcoming Davis Chamber of Commerce awards/business of the year banquet.
The annual event will be held Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Davis Conference Center in Layton.
Categories include Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Employer of the Year, and Innovation.
Finalists by category are:
- Business of the Year: Chevron, KIHOMAC and Western States Lodging
- Small Business of the Year: Destination Homes, Pluralsight and The Hive Winery
- Employer of the Year: Davis Applied Technology College, Futura Industries and Zions Bank
- Innovation: Janicki Industries, Orbit Irrigation and South Davis Community Hospital.
“The banquet has become one of Davis County’s premier events,” said Chamber President Jim Smith.
It’s a black-tie optional event that follows an Academy Award format with three finalists and the winner not being announced until the evening of the event, he said.
“Every year many great companies are nominated and the process of choosing the finalists and winners is difficult,” said Mike Call, nominating committee chair.
“Every business is unique so it is like comparing apples to oranges. It is exciting to see the great things these companies are doing,” he said. Call is with Merrill Lynch.
“This is an important aspect of our mission, to increase community awareness of our strong busi9ness environment here,” Smith said in a chamber press release.
The public is invited. RSVP by calling 801-593-2200 or going online at daviscc.@davischamberofcommerce.com.
