WEST BOUNTIFUL — By time South Davis Metro Fire Agency crews got to the Holly Refinery on Friday night, a fire in the insulation on the lid of an asphalt tank was out.
Metro fire crews responded to the blaze, which was reported at 9:47 p.m., according to Fire Chief Jeff Bassett. The tank is on the east side of the facility, so was visible to those passing on the freeway.
“We had a lot of calls about it,” Bassett said.
Holly’s fire brigade had already extinguished the blaze by time agency crews arrived.
“There was no product fire,” Bassett said. “It was contained to the lid of the tank.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the refinery, according to Mike Astin, the refinery’s environmental manager.
